CBSE Class 12 Revaluation 2026: Dates, Fees, and Step-by-Step Guide to Apply

Did your CBSE Class 12 results not meet your expectations? If you believe your hard work deserves a higher score, the CBSE revaluation process is your opportunity to have your answer sheets cross-checked.

With the 2026 session approaching, it is crucial to understand that the revaluation process follows a strict three-step timeline. Missing a single deadline means losing the chance to improve your marks.

Verification of Marks5–10 days after result declaration
Obtaining Photocopy15–20 days after result declaration
Re-evaluation of Answers25–30 days after result declaration
Mode of ApplicationOnline (cbse.gov.in)

The 3-Step Mandatory Process

You cannot jump directly to revaluation. You must follow this specific order:

Step 1: Verification of Marks

In this stage, a board official will check if all marks were totaled correctly and if any answer was left un-evaluated.

  • Fee: Approx. ₹500 per subject.
  • Outcome: You receive a “Mistake Found” or “No Mistake Found” notification.

Step 2: Obtaining a Photocopy of Answer Sheet

Only those who applied for Step 1 can request a scanned copy of their evaluated answer book. This allows you to see exactly how your examiner marked your responses.

  • Fee: Approx. ₹700 per subject.
  • Purpose: To identify specific questions where you feel marks were unfairly deducted.

Step 3: Re-evaluation of Specific Questions

Once you have your photocopy, you can challenge specific questions. A different examiner will then re-grade those specific answers based on the official marking scheme.

  • Fee: Approx. ₹100 per question.

How to Apply Online

  1. Visit the official CBSE website: cbse.gov.in.
  2. Click on the “Main Website” and look for the “Apply for Verification/Revaluation” link.
  3. Enter your Roll Number, School Code, and Center Number.
  4. Select the subjects you wish to apply for.
  5. Pay the fee online via Credit Card, Debit Card, or Net Banking.
  6. Download the confirmation page for future reference.

Important Rules to Remember

  • Marks Can Decrease: Be aware that during re-evaluation, your marks can decrease as well as increase. The final result will be updated on your mark sheet regardless of the outcome.
  • Non-Refundable Fee: The application fee is non-refundable.
  • Strict Deadlines: The portal usually opens for only 2–3 days for each step. There are no extensions.

What Happens After Re-evaluation?

If your marks change, you will be required to surrender your old mark sheet to your school or the CBSE regional office. A fresh mark sheet with updated scores will then be issued to you.

Pro Tip: Keep a close eye on the CBSE notification portal immediately after the results are announced in May 2026 to ensure you don’t miss the window!
