Schools in Kolkata of CBSE, CISCE, and ISC Board have distributed the additional question paper to students to make them familiar with the new pattern.

Students from the Central Board will notice a difference in how questions are asked. More marks will be given to questions that require critical thinking

Remembering this, many city schools have shared sets of practice questions with students to assist them in getting ready for the new question format.

In a notice before, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) mentioned that there would be more critical thinking questions in the 2024 board exams. This shift in the question pattern follows the guidelines of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

CBSE will have 10% more questions on critical thinking.

CISCE schools have conducted tests to prepare students for the new question format. Principals suggest that practicing regularly and carefully reading the questions more than once will be the most effective way to answer them accurately.

Principal Seema Sapru of Heritage School mentioned, “We provided students with sample question papers to help them become familiar with the new board question pattern. Our students have taken multiple tests, and they are well-prepared. We advised them to read the question papers thoroughly to understand them, as this is a different type of paper compared to what they were used to.”

Principal Sonali Sen of DPS Newtown stated, “We implemented the new question pattern during the half-yearly exams. Teachers had children practice with worksheets and assessment sheets. We also created question banks emphasizing those types of questions, which were then shared with the students.”

CBSE began modifying its assessment pattern in 2020, and by 2024, Class X students might encounter 50% critical thinking questions in each paper. Similarly, Class XII students could face 40% of analytical questions in their examinations.

Principal Tania Sen of Techno India Group Public School, Garia, mentioned, “We conducted two mock tests, and our question papers are designed in accordance with the CBSE sample papers.”
